Can we find some worms mom?

I am reminiscing about Mothers day weekend because last Saturday was the nicest, nicest day we've had since spring arrived. Wait, maybe spring isn't here yet? Our weather here has been in the low 40's, wind, rain, and very overcast. :-{
While we were enjoying the mid 60's weather with sun and a bit of wind. CMW and I were planting a few dahlia and canna lily bulbs. And she found the worms! At each hole we were looking for the 'babies', 'mama's' and 'daddy's'. I am not sure how she knew which were which but she she was so excited about finding each one. CMW would pick them up, check them out, I'd plant the bulb, she'd put them back in the dirt, I'd cover them up and then we'd move on to the next spot. This was all done in her pj's and princess dress and she was roasting! I could tell by her red cheeks.

She asked on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday if we could go and find worms.

We took a break to get some H2O and get CMW some cooler cloths. She also decided she needed to be tickled. One thing she really enjoys!

A new space to play in perhaps?

CMW: 'Mom, Eleanore is in the hole!'
Me: 'What?'

I couldn't figure out what she was talking about and I didn't know about any holes in their bedroom in which Eleanore would fit in. So, I went to take a look and found this:

E was just coming out of the 'hole'. Claire's bed has storage under it and there happened to be enough room for E to try to wiggle into one of the spaces. To say the least, I believe she was having fun! I couldn't resist taking more pictures of one more thing E figured out how to do. She is really into crawling into, under or through things. Like the kitchen table or chairs, I always find her challenging herself. Or on top of stools, or the fire place hearth or end tables. Her sister Claire takes all the couch cushions off so E can 'climb up' she says and 'play', so we have much more watchful eyes these days.

Venturing into the hole...

What fun these two girls have, E exploring and C being the 'big sister' and maybe they have found a new space to play in.

Makin' Biscuits

CMW enjoyed helping out with dinner biscuits a few days ago.
I also enjoy when she helps out, even if flour gets everywhere...
It's time together like this with out Miss E that she really cherishes!

cutting out biscuits
and placing them on the baking sheet

Here is the recipe we use, nothing fancy and it's not like biscuits are that healthy anyway... but still we enjoy them every once in a while.

Baking powder biscuits
4c. flour (i use whole wheat organic flour)
2 T. baking powder
2 T. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. cold butter
1 1/4 c. milk approx.

Mix the dry ingredients together, then shred the butter into the dry mix. (I cut mine in chunks and then use a pastry cutter to blend in.) Add milk gradually just until the dough pulls away from the bowl.

Knead about 15 times
roll into a 1" thickness
then cut with glass
place on baking sheet

Bake at 425 degrees
Time: 13-15 minutes
Amount: depends on size of glass

Enjoy!

10 months and growing

(our fun, goofy, sweet Eleanore)

Our lady Eleanore is a quick mover and won't stay still if she was in a straight jacket.
- She crawls faster then some kids walk, I promise! And I bet she'll be walking by 11 months. She already takes single steps and wants to be in on the action, All.the.time!!!
- She is always checking out what Claire is doing...

reading :-)

- Can we say 'Climber'! She is always getting up onto things or into things if possible.

4.3.2011
(This was the 10th time i'm sure I got her off the stool.)

- In the dogs water, splash, splash.
- EKW eats and eats. She eats a whole lot more then CMW, I think E is going to be the beefy of the two!
- Enjoys being outside and doesn't object to the grass. She would much rather be out with big sister then looking out through the glass door.
- Loves the dog and cat... I think she thinks they feel funny and giggles when they come close.

We enjoy the stage EKW is presently in and we love watching her grow into the little lady she's going to be.

We.Are.Blessed.
