What Makes Me Laugh

Living with my husband makes me have a good laugh when least expected.
There isn't anything wrong with this picture or how he hangs up cloths. It just catches me off guard when I go to take the cloths down that I have to chuckle. I hang cloths differently, as in, I would hang them from the legs, not the waist. This is why I love my dear husband, I never know when I'm going to find something that makes me laugh.

I'm the bag lady

I'm 'the bag lady' and I've had this name from my family for a long time. I like to make bags for myself and my husband would love if I hold off on the bag making for myself and start 'making a profit' off of them. I just laugh because I'm certain this will never happen, but I enjoy making bags and some people out there enjoy buying bags, so it's worth a try.
So, My aunt back in Pequot has a boutique at the end of her driveway. It's a little shop open on select weekends and it's all home made goods from her family and friends. Each are unique and one of a kind. This is where my bags will be going for now. In August there is a craft fair my sister and I will be participating in. Selling our goods instead of being the shopper.  I'm a bit excited but also skeptical of how 'not good' my goods really are. But I'm going to look forward to it anyway.  And i'm thinking I;m in need of a name to put to the goods that I make.
Any suggestions, let me know!
One last thing...
I like to think that I choose to buck the system. I like to make bags that are not necessarily the in-style thing (even though I bet they would sell better) but rather the unique and 'will not be seen else where' type. Why not be original?

New Kitchen!

Miss CMW got some new toys this past weekend. Boy is she loving them.

CMW is pushing the microwave buttons, how cool is that!
(This kitchen came from our good friends the Andersen's here in Fargo!
Previously loved by their kids and passed on to ours.)

Don't ya love her excitement?
And the box she's standing on is not a hazard as some may think. CMW can now reach the side cupboards and microwave, she is much happier as a cook!
And last but not least, CMW got some good old building blocks made out of milk cartons. She's not sure what to do with them, but if you build, she'll destruct.
(These came personally hand made from Mr. Kevin Olson in Pequot Lakes!)

Steal of the Day

The steal of day would be from a thrift store and it's this very cool dresser! But what's even cooler then getting a good deal on it, is it's in good condition, solid, real wood and it has character! Yea! I bought it for my niece. It's a simple dresser with 2 large drawers and 2 small drawer and a mirror that swivels. I can't wait to get it home to her. It is going to be just the right size and her momma is going to love it!

What women think...

It's interesting when I get together with groups of women, particularly women from bible study and the women from Bunko.  They all think we need to start with baby #2 and I think they are out of their minds.  But it is comical and I love listening to their encouraging words and reasons why we should start.

Episode #1.
One Tuesday morning before study, I was asked by 3 women at different times when I was going to be starting up again with another baby. Reasons, CMW needs a sibling and she's old enough to start with a new one.  After bible study, another lady asked and her reasoning was about the same, CMW is getting old enough and you don't want siblings to far apart. Then I was at the christian book store and I ran into one of the pastors from church (who knows me well) and he asked me about baby #2. Now all this in one day and no one had talked to each other about this, hmm.

Episode #2.
Bunko night (it's a dice game), as we were playing, one of the ladies, Mary asked if anything new will be happening (referring to babies) in our lives soon? My answer, I'm have CMW and need a bit more time to prepare for the crazy infancy period. But she went on to ask more questions...
Q: Do we need to go over how this happens?
Q: Do you & Jim need a night without CMW?
Q: Do we need to talk to the husband about this?
Q: Should an elder of the church talk to your husband? Because mine is an elder and I'm sure we could arrange this.
As the laughter roars and I could barely get out a 'no', the bell rang for the next round of Bunko to begin. We composed ourselves enough to roll dice and count numbers as each of us got our prescribed dose of laughter for the day.

Now, is this a sign? Is the Big Man Upstairs telling me that I'll make it through another baby? Everyone says baby #2 is much easier then baby #1 but I'm not sure and I'm not taking their word on this quite yet. So y'all just keep praying for us that we'll be ready for baby #2, when ever that happens.

"uh-ooh"

Big word of the week... uh-ooh.

And I'm not sure where CMW picked it up but it's cute.
It put a smile on my face one morning, I went in to get her and she was saying 'uh-ooh', over and over. Now she says it periodically through out the day. The word 'no' has also made it in her vocab. It is just so fun to listen to her develop and try out new words.
I certainly am a first time mother, enjoying all these moments that i've never experienced! :-)

Grapes

Miss CMW likes grapes and its a good thing, just not to many at one time. The only thing is I don't like buying grapes because I never know if they are going to be good. This day I've decided I must get good at buying grapes, she loves them.
The story goes...
As I was cooking on the grill I was in and out of the kitchen and CMW was playing in the sink water.  She also found the grapes sitting on the counter and decided she needed more. She reached over and grabbed some for herself (a small clump full) and started munching. CMW was plucking them off individually withe her small pint-size fingers, chewing them between those bit-size molars and mm-good the grape made it to her tummy. I guess I don't have to worry about cutting those grapes in half after all.

Sandbox Fun

Oh how the sandbox can be fun!
CMW's g'ma in Pequot Lakes found this turtle for FREE and in good condition and we scooped it up for a future use. I got some good/clean sand and a few sand toys and now CMW has a nice place to play. It even has a lid to cover it! She has really enjoyed it and this past weekend, it kept her busy while her dad worked on the landscaping and her mom potted plants.

The Ukulele

Jim is dying to make a guitar but those kits are expensive and I decided to give him a bit of wisdom that I thought was okay to give. Why not try a ukulele first?  I said 'you'll know if you really want to try an expensive guitar if this goes well'. All said and done, he decided to get this kit for about 100 bucks and waa-laa. He made a pretty nice ukulele!

It came in a kit, all the pieces cut and shaped and all he needed was to put it together and a little extra care to make it look nice and sound good. But it was no small task and it took him some time and he did well. It's a slow process to do, glue, wrap with rubber bands and wait for it to dry. Over and over again. He also sanded, wondered what type of finish to put on, not having all the correct tools how was he going to do certain parts of the ukulele. That put his engineering brain to work. But now he thinks he needs to have more luthier tools and yes he does want to make a guitar. But i think he will leave that for next winter when there isn't anything to do.
